Does Your Computer Talk To You?

Now don’t fall out of your chair because I posted this to the blog. hehe

As much as I would love to come here more often, it’s one of those things like exercising. It takes forever to get started and stay with it, but the rewards and feelings afterward are great!

So, here’s my “Public Service” Announcement…

As you probably already know by now, I just “lost” about three weeks of production recovering from what we now refer to as the “hijacked computer” incident. :)

We don’t actually know for sure if my computer was one of the 55,000 used in the July 4th government cyber attack or not, but that weekend resulted in my losing my WHOLE machine’s admin access, programs and all.

It simply laid down and told me (after hours of mind numbing attempts to try everything under the sun) “You will NOT access the Internet, you do NOT get admin access, I am NOT going to reformat, and can NOT pass go!” :)

And yet, there was that sliver of silver lining (hanging by it’s last thread, mind you) and the GOOD NEWS is that I’d gotten pretty good over the past several years at doing regular backups (having been burned many times before) on both my own computers, but also on server files (something many of you forget about, I bet).

I’ve come to simply LOVE portable harddrives. Portable harddrives are my friends – and they should be yours too!

In fact, with all the back to school sales going on, I’ve noticed that you can get a whole TERABYTE (that’s 1,000 gigabytes) for what a 350G cost less than a year ago.

It’s simply too dangerous, maybe even irresponsible to NOT have a portable backup of all your data – especially if you’re running your own business.

Sure, I still lost lots of time, and the programs, even some files, but the damage could have been soooo much worse had I not been backing up and using additional drives for all my data.

But I didn’t come here to chastise you for not backing up your data regularly (but sternly shaking my finger at you!) but wanting to encourage you to be PROACTIVE – you just never know when you’ll need the additional “insurance” that can give you the added assurance. ;)

What I really was excited about getting to you was a special link to get you BACK inside the door on this opportunity:

You may remember I told you about a new unique webmaster automation “tool” that was released recently, and many of you took advantage of the prelaunch special before the price increased.

Richard and Greg are running a special offer at the Warrior Forum and they’ve graciously allowed me to send you to their WSO (Warrior Special Offer) so you can grab it at the same low launch price:

http://launchalerts.com/likes/wso

What that means to you, is that you now have another opportunity to save some big bucks on this automation “swiss knife” web tool that is getting rave reviews from every corner.

You see, it does redirect your links, but oh my, it does so much more than that, that had it been me, I certainly would have called it something else. :) …like, a “web wizard/genie/brain” or something else to do more justice to it’s capabilities. :)

Nonetheless, NOW is another opportunity to go inside and pick this up at the original launch price.

I really don’t know how long the price is good for, so you can’t say I didn’t warn you if it suddenly disappears.

So since I have no idea how long this will last at this price, if you can afford it now, we suggest you put it to work for you while you can and at the lowest possible price.

Of course I can’t check in without having you check out our totally WACKY sale this week. It’s so cheap, we’re almost giving it away!

Have a great weekend ahead and I’ll see you again with more tools, resources, and best of all bargains, to help you with your business basics.

I came across a really awesome “business plan” last night but want to have the opportunity to check things out more before I pass it along to you. :)

All My Best To Your success,

Kathe, back at THE BLOG :)

I second the stern warning about backups. You don’t necessarily have to be the victim of a hacker attack.

Last year I ended up with a fried computer due to a power surge during a thunder storm. Fortunately, I had everything backed up to an external hard drive that was never plugged in when not in use.

It was a big pain, but things could have been much, much worse.

wtg Sally! Another one of those invaluable “tips” – unplug the portable harddrives! ;) (and thanks for the reminder, I sometimes forget that and here in tornado alley, we get our fair share of surges)

Now’s the time to buy – they are very inexpensive compared to the value.
